Zaatar Salad

This is close to our familiar Arabic traditional Salad but the addition of green Zaatar leaves (wild oregano) brought it to a next level of yumminess! I thought adding some cooked chickpeas topped with small pieces of Feta cheese would enrich the flavors even more, I end with a sprinkle of sumac and a squeeze of lemon juice and olive oil as a dressing.

Zaatar comes in many kinds in the Levant region, the one I used is called green zaatar leaves ( Zaatar akhdar), and it is the same one used in the famous traditional fteer (Zaatar flat bread) in my Palestine :) While the other kind of zaatar is the one that ends up as a mix with sumac and sesame seeds.

Really delicious, super refreshing and so full of flavor! A salad that worth using Zaatar (akhdar) in! :)

Zaatar/fetta cheese Salad الوصفة باللغة العربية اضغط هنا

Ingredients :

2 Cucumbers chopped

5 pieces cherry tomatoes halved

2 Tablespoons cooked chickpeas

1 small size onion,diced

1/3 cup of Zaatar green leaves (wild Oregano).

1/3 cup Feta cheese,cut into small pieces.

1 teaspoon Sumac

Salt,to taste.

Dressing : a juice of 1 lemon+ 2 Tablespoons Olive oil.

Direction :

- Place the ingredients in a bowl and toss with the dressing and season to taste with salt.
